WWII pigeon message stumps GCHQ decoders

The remains of the bird were found in a chimney in Surrey with a message from World War II attached. Experts at the intelligence agency GCHQ have been struggling to decipher the message since they were provided with it a few weeks ago.

Irish soldiers's wills from WWI on internet

The Republic's National Archives will put the wills of 9,000 Irish soldiers who died in the First World War. The documents reveal the last wishes of the soldiers, many of them Ulster men.

Wilhelm Brasse, photographer

Wilhelm Brasse, a Polish photographer who took pictures of tens of thousands of Auschwitz prisoners during World War II died October 23, 2012. Almost seven decades after the end of the war, Wilhelm Brasse's pictures preserve the memory of Holocaust victims.
